DAY 9 Atlanta Bound
ATLANTA, GEORGIA - AUG 31, Day 9, 88 miles: Members of the Major Taylor Cycling Club of New Jersey are shown at the Welcome “Atlanta” marquis in Atlanta, Georgia, on August 31, 2017. The club traveled nearly 900 miles in nine days, climbed nearly 25,000 feet to arrive in time for the the 12th annual Metro Atlanta Cycling Club (MACC Attack) one love century ride. Since 2005 the One Love Century has been able to donate more than $110,000 to a great group of youth-focus organizations working in the Metro Atlanta.” The club still had about 20 miles to go before reaching their hotel destination in Union City, Georgia which just a few miles from the start line of the “Century.” (Not shown in most photos is Photographer Brian Branch Price)
Earlier, while in Athens we said good-by to Byron who I believed brought the rain for we were again in the rain on the last day of the journey until we road into Atlanta. Where we stopped for a second to pose for a foto at the Welcome to Atlanta Sign at some park.
We road a few miles down and stopped at McDonalds to rest a second, no eats, but just to collect our thoughts for we had about 20 more miles to go to our hotel in Union City, Georgia just a few miles south of College park.
We decided to catch the Marta to College park and roll to the hotel from there. We were sick of the rain and bun’s were a hurting.
Later that evening the MACC crew honored us for the ride with fellowship and good food along with Nelson Vails and his presentation.
