FLEMINGTON, NEW JERSEY - AUG 23, Day 1, 89 miles: We left Flemington, New Jersey on August 23 for a 900 miles in nine days, to Atlanta, Georgia averaging 100 miles a day and climbing nearly 25,000 feet to participate in the the 12th annual Metro Atlanta Cycling Club (MACC Attack) one love century ride. Since 2005 the One Love Century has been able to donate more than $110,000 to a great group of youth-focus organizations working in the Metro Atlanta.” around 5 am Wednesday morning from James and Shona’s house
Didn’t realize the ride was the ride until we stopped and took a photograph at the bridge leading into Morristown, PA from Trenton. That’s when I realized this Ride to the Ride (R2R-Atlanta) was really happening.
No sooner that we got to West Trenton did we experience our first flat tire. I think we all welcomed that flat for a nice rest break and settled for “glad we got that out the way. “
But just a few miles down the road in Morristown and after popping on State Highway 13 three more flats occurred and I doubled flatted. All in all we had about 12 flats with eight occurring on the first day before we hit a night stop in Wilmington, Delaware where the Shaffer gave us warm showers some “Bobbies” and Drink.
